1. Installation

1.1. When installing pybliographer, the configure script warns me about some problem with GNU Recode. What's going on?

You probably have a broken version of GNU Recode. There is a dedicated help page for GNU Recode Problems.

2. Usage

2.1. Pybliographic shows some text in lower case whereas it is in upper case in the bibtex file.

This is not a bug, it's a feature ! ;-) Pybliographer tries to mimic bibtex's behavior, which recapitalizes some fields (like the title), so that you see what you would get. You can configure which fields are subject to this recapitalization in the Preference menu.

2.2. I cannot cite an entry in LyX, whereas all the paths are correctly specified.

On some systems, it is not possible to read a pipe on a NFS device. You can specify another name for the lyxserver pipe, so that it is located on a local disk.

2.3. How can I display the Key/Type of the entries in the index window?

You can edit the preferences and add special fields called -Key- and -Type-. Don't forget the minus signs...

2.4. What is the easiest way to import citations from online databases?

The easiest way to import a citation is using the Medline Query option under the File menu in Pybliographer. Pybliographer 1.2 cannot import from other online databases yet. See the list of External_Databases.

(please note that the option to open an URL is intended to open a static file remotely)

2.5. Which is the right way to enter author names in Pybliographic?

You can either use John H. Doe or Doe, John H.. The latter may be preferable, because it explicitly separates first and last names. Write one author per line.
